THE GALLERY

Located on the top floor of a working art gallery, BMG’s The Gallery is a state-of-the-art, four-room recording studio unlike anything else in the world.

Designed to inspire and ignite the senses, The Gallery is the only recording studio on the planet to feature Coelux lighting, a revolutionary new Italian skylight product that washes the entire studio in analogous sunlight at any time of the day (or night).

While many studios feel like monochromatic ‘man caves’, every facet of The Gallery’s design is painstakingly bespoke with a design palette that more closely resembles a high-end hotel suite in Europe than a recording studio in inner Sydney.

The Gallery sounds as good as it looks, designed and tuned by acclaimed Sydney-based acoustic engineer Michael Fronzek from SoundSpaces.

Not only a feat of audio engineering, The Gallery is also a feat of structural engineering. In order to support the 55 tonne structure in the penthouse of the building, more than 8 tonnes of structural steel was installed underneath the floor to support the mass required to create an optimal acoustic environment.

Featuring a Rupert Neve Shelford console, a range of analogue outboard gear, a wide selection of microphones including a Telefunken ELA 251 E and a Sony C800 and a selection of monitoring options from Amphion, Barefoot and Genelec, The Gallery offers a high end solution for all recording and mixing applications.

“The Gallery is our masterpiece - a place for our artists to play, listen and record in an environment that has been built exclusively for them. There is something completely appropriate about building the new BMG Sydney office around a working recording studio, and we are convinced that the songs and recordings made in The Gallery will reverberate around the world”. - Heath Johns, Managing Director BMG Australia.

The Gallery can only be booked in blocks for recording projects by enquiry to jodie.feld@bmg.com.
